Pricing & Policies

Our lessons are fun and friendly, just like us. Below are our policies and procedures, written so we can all know what to expect.

In South Berkeley, we are the community room at Adeline's Labs located at 3140 Martin Luther King (1/2 block from Ashby Bart).  In Marin County we come to you, and lessons are in students' homes. In Marin we currently teach from Mill Valley to San Rafael.

Piano lessons are billed at $85/hour.  The minimum for an in-home lesson is 45min.

2018 - 2019 Schedule

Weekly lessons are taught Monday - Thursday, September 11th - June 8th and summer lessons begin June 11th.

KC & Friends are closed during the following holidays and breaks, and lessons will not be scheduled or billed for the following dates:

  • Thanksgiving: November 22nd
  • Winter Holiday: December 24th - January 4th
  • President's Week: (Ski Week) Feb 18th - 22nd

If a lesson falls on other Federal holidays (ex. MLK Day) we do have lessons. Spring Break is not a "free" cancel because we teach kids from so many schools that it covers three different weeks.

Bills for in-home lessons are issued at the end of the month for all lessons that were scheduled for the previous month.  Payment is expected 15 days after an invoice is sent. An invoice with the amount due will be sent out via email.

Beginning in September 2015, KC & Friends will be working with Bill & Pay, which will offer an online portal for everyone to view all of their past invoices, pay online through their checking accounts, and set up auto-payments that will automatically pay the invoice on the due date.  In addition, for a fee, we accept credit cards through our online store which is powered through PayStand.

Late Fees

A late fee of $20 will be issued to families who have a balance older than 45 days. Late fees will appear on your next invoice.

The teacher will provide all necessary books for the student.  Each family will pay a $50 deposit on their first invoice of the school year and a second $50 will be charged on the January invoice.  In June we will balance out all the book deposit accounts and either charge or credit your final invoice for any balances left.

We do not want to teach students who do not want to learn, so there are minimal commitments to these lessons. They are:

New Student First Month

During the first month, if it is not working out, please feel at ease to part ways. After one month of lessons, you agree to give four weeks notice if you would like to end lessons completely.

Returning Students

For the schedule beginning in September, we ask that you stay committed through January. For the schedule beginning in February, we ask you stay committed through the first week of June.  If that is not possible, we require four weeks notice to end lessons.

Summer lessons are commitment free. If you have some weeks in which you are interested in having lessons, please let KC know and if a teacher is available she'll arrange lessons with you.

Teacher cancellation: If the teacher cancels for any reason, KC will try to substitute for that lesson.  If neither your teacher or KC can make it, you will not be charged for that lesson.

Cancellation Policy

For the first two cancellations, there will be a 50% charge.  After the first two, the lessons will be charged in full.  We will do everything in our power to reschedule if there is a conflict or make up lessons if we can.  Our policy, however, is that if the student cancelled the lesson it still needs to be paid for.

Waiting List

On this webstie, under the LESSONS tab there is a form to be added to our waitlist.  Please fill that out and we will be in touch with you shortly.  If we have a spot open that works for you, we'll get started right away.  If we have nothing to offer right now we can let you know as spots become available. Thanks!
